AmEuro ICE covers the areas of Canada, Iceland, and Greenland. Now you understand why we called it ICE. Coooold areas. You won't find many airports in Iceland and Greenland served here, but Canada is served extensively. Canada is a large country so air transport is required to connect the large cities to remote areas. It's common to think of Canada as a cold place. In fact the west and east coasts along with south central Canada, are very hot in the summer months. However, that's not the case in the Arctic. You will find many scenic areas to fly to on the west coast and the east coast. The biggest city is Toronto but Montreal and Vancouver are not far behind. For some real interesting flights, try heading north during the winter months. Some of the best places for pilots to visit are:
  • CYYZ - Toronto, Canada. The busiest airport in Canada and home to many international flights.
  • CYVR - Vancouver, Canada. The approach from the east is beautiful and from the west is scenic too.
  • CYUL - Montreal, Canada. Fly north from here and see CYMX. The white elephant, Mirabel airport, was made to handle the heavy traffic to Montreal that never arrived.
  • CYYT - St.John's, Canada. On approach from the south or east you can see the Cabot Tower and touchdown on a cliffside airport.
  • CYVQ - Norman Wells, Canada. you want to visit a remote airport? Can't get more remote than this. Diamond minds and oil wells are all you'll see with a couple of houses and a gravel runway long enough for a 737.
