AmEuro has joined the SimFly.EU AFTS System. The Advanced Flight Tracking System is a little more
than just a system to show your flight path on a map. It also includes a financial system that,
while still in development, makes our sim more fun.
You select a flight number that you want to fly and enter this into FS. You then pick the aircraft
you want to fly based on how many passengers are available for the route which is displayed on the
routes page. Copy the tail number of the aircraft into FS's aircraft detail section. All of this
is done inside FS and not on the aircraft.cfg file. There is one initial setup in the aircraft.cfg
file that you may have to do, but if so, you only do it once.
Download and their application and install it. You also have to register and join AmEuro on their
system. Our call sign is AVA. Start up FS9 or FSX and then create a flight plan using only the
departure and destination points in your plan. Once loaded, and you are sitting at the terminal,
start the AFTS system and login. At that point you will appear on their system and can view your
progress through their web site if you like.
Once you are at this point the fun begins. First, you open your doors and passengers start coming
in. Once loaded you close the doors and commence your flight. At the end of the flight open the
doors for 20 seconds to allow the pax to unload and then close the doors. You can then view your
flight details on the web site including the profit for that flight. This all counts towards
AmEuro's bank account.
This gives us a nice little financial system that I've been trying to work on, but having
difficulties. A few things are important however. First we are required to fly 60 hrs per month
in total or they will remove us from their system automatically. Also, if you fly using
accelerated time, which is permissable at AmEuro, we will only credited with the online time, not
the flight time. This is ok, as the financial system is not affected. Next, you can only depart
from where the aircraft currently sits. For example, let's say I fly the A330-200 from KJFK to
LEMD. If you want to fly the A330-200, you must depart from LEMD. I find this to be kinda fun in
that we all get to explore the world uniquely.
You will still have to record your flight at AmEuro to be credited with the VA hours. Of course,
you don't have to fly at SimFly.EU. If you're in the mood to fly a B767 or don't want to fly out
of LEMD you are still free to fly any of the routes at AmEuro. They just won't count at SimFly.EU.
What do we do with the money earned? Well, we buy more aircraft to fly in. Right now we were given
a B737-800 to start plus I purchased an A330-200 in error. I thought I was getting more details by
clicking on it, but rather I was purchasing it. Oops! Once we've built up enough money, we can buy
a B767 or whatever we like and sell the A330-200 if no one wants to fly it.
Please join us in this exciting online venture. It looks like it's going to be a fantastic system
when all of the individual pieces are complete. Even now, it's a nice system.
